Vauxhall Bridge

Vauxhall Bridge

Vauxhall Bridge, next to Lambeth Bridge, connecting Millbank with Vauxhall and Nine Elms station, was rebuilt by the London County Council with ample width - 80 feet - and in a style sufficiently ornamental to satisfy modern ideas.

The old one was opened in 1816, and was constructed of cast-iron, a material never previously employed in Metropolitan bridges.

It was 900 feet long, but only 36 feet wide.

The view from the bridge does not call for any particular comment.
